Welcome to the Waughop Lake Blog

Welcome to the Waughop Lake WA blog.

The Waughop Lake Blog was established in 2019 in response to controversy over a proposal to treat a highly eutrophic, shallow, 33 acre lake in Lakewood, WA with alum as a means of controlling frequent algae blooms and toxic by-products, which have forced the closure of the lake to water contact activities as a result of frequent high levels of microcystin toxins.  The lake is surrounded by a heavily used City-leased park, owned by the State of Washington and used for over 100 years as a recepticle for animal and human waste products.  The mission of the blog is to bring public awareness to the issues, and provide public input to decisions needing to be made.

The vision of the Waughop Lake blog is to be instrumental in providing information to resolve the public health issues facing the public and protect the lake environment.

The method we use is to provide information on all topics relating to the issue, including controversial viewpoints, as well as those of the blogmaster.

I will try to make this blog as interesting and useful as possible to our viewers and an information source for the general public.  I hope you like it.
